YouTube Cuts Revenue To Russia Today And Others

Youtube has banned Rusia Today (RT) and other Rusian-based news agencies from earning income on its platform in the wake of the continued assault on Ukraine, which has captured the attention of the world since it began last week. The move comes as countries and international financial institutions have reacted with sanctions and expulsion from financial networks.

YouTube said in a statement it’s “pausing a number of channels’ ability to monetize on YouTube, including several Russian channels affiliated with recent sanctions.”

RT has been available via streaming sources for about a decade and used to be found among news sources but has been dropped over time even before the current crisis.
