What Happened To Movieland Tv?

The Roku Channel Movieland TV has been removed by Roku. If you still have an icon for the channel you will likely find that its listings are blank. Movieland Tv had a recent peak in interest when people realized that Gone With The Wind was available as a viewing option on the channel.

Now visitors to the channel will likely find that the original artwork has been replaced by a grey square that says currently not available. If users click on the channel they are sent to a black and white screen that refers them to this page set up to explain why something was removed.

Roku will typically remove a channel if it violates its terms and conditions which deal with copyright issues and how the content from Roku is used. You can usually bet that if a channel was removed it was because the channel owner did not have permission to distribute said content. Did Movieland Tv have permission to distribute Gone With The Wind and many of the other films in its selection? This we can not say for sure as we have been unable to reach the original owner of The Roku Channel.

  1. sad really it was a great channel. ROKU is ok, but they continue to eliminate really nice channels.

  2. This ridiculous conspiracy against one of the best movies ever made (some say THE best motion picture ever made) is a reflection of the insanity happening in our society today. I hope this epidemic insanity passes soon.

I would also like to say that I am very upset that Movieland.TV is no longer available on ROKU. It was a no nonsense channel that provided a lineup of very nice movies, albeit older delections. Not like the other channels that provide a frustratingly huge hodgepodge of crappy movies sprinkled with a few good ones.
