What Are People Watching On Discovery+

Discovery+ hit the scene this month. And while we don’t have any numbers yet on subscribers we do know what is proving to be popular on the service. Via Just Watch we have a listing of the most-watched shows on the service. Discovery+ is a new service from Discovery Networks that gathers thousands of hours of content from across its multiple brands along with content from A&E Network owned services such as The History Channel. The service has both archived content from multiple seasons of its iconic programming as well as new episodes of current shows the day after they air.

The bet with Discovery+ was that audiences would flock to a service built on reality TV in the same way they might blockbuster films or sports. We think it’s a good bet based on how popular home cooking and home improvement has become over the past year.

At the top of the list is The History Channel’s Alone. One of many shows in the genre built around how to survive in the elements it is proving to be popular with the streamer’s audience. The show though only has 4 seasons available as the series is not part of the Discovery Networks family. At the moment only seasons 1,4,5 & 6 are available.

MythBusters with 20 seasons strong available is the second most-watched show on the service. The pair has been at it for decades now clearing up misconceptions with a mix of educational information and fun experimentation.

Viewers appear to be using the service to travel via their TVs with Planet Earth II coming in at Number 3, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations at number 5 and Blue Planet II coming in at number 8. The viewing will definitely take audiences out of their living rooms at a time when many may not have seen much else. How It’s Made, No 6, can give users a good idea of where all of the things they have delivered go before they end up in a box or padded envelope. While BattleBots lets us all get out a little aggression by living through the experiences of talented robot designers who destroy the hard work of other talented robot designers.

90 Day Fiance is a major draw for the service coming in at number 4 with new episodes available directly through Discovery+. The truth is that based on what we have seen on social media this may even be a sore point amongst viewers who subscribe via pay-TV services. Kitchen Nightmares the number 10 selection takes us behind the scenes of resteraunts that not too many of us have a chance to go to these days and Undercover Billionaire shows us that some of the Ultra-rich can be very nice when the camera records everything they do. Wouldn’t it be interesting to see a show called hot mic billionaire?

Top to bottom Discovery+ offers a lot to see from True Crime fake history (Ancient Aliens). As more people drop cable it will be worth keeping an eye on how many people choose to get their reality TV fix from Discovery+.
