Live NFL Games Coming to Roku

NFL becoming easier to get than ever

NFL Sunday Ticket will be available to more people than ever before thanks to Direct TV’s merger with AT&T. NFLSUNDAYTICKET.TV builds on an outreach that started last year and like its older sibling features every out of market NFL game. It allows uber fans who live in places that can not use Direct TV dishes in their homes to sign up for the formerly exclusive service.

“Millions of people in apartments and houses in the U.S. who were unable to install DIRECTV satellite dishes can now enjoy every out-of-market game, every Sunday afternoon on their favorite mobile and connected devices,” said Alex Kaplan, senior vice president, Marketing for DIRECTV, part of the AT&T family.  “More NFL fans than ever before will be able to access NFLSUNDAYTICKET.TV service and follow their favorite teams and players.”

Homes that qualify include apartments, condominiums or town homes that do not receive DIRECTV service.  People who cannot install a DIRECTV dish at their home due to an obstruction or other restriction can also purchase the package. Active students at four-year universities nationwide can buy NFLSUNDAYTICKET.TV U at an exclusive student price ($24.99/month for four months).

While the announcement may be exciting for football fans the service does not come cheap. It will cost $49.99 a month for four months. So it will be about $200.00 per year. That is a lot less than signing a contract with Direct TV of course but “a little more expensive” than just watching the games that are on TV for free.

Devices for NFLSUNDAYTICKET.TV
There is no clear word on whether the service will be available via a stand alone app or be melded into a new NFL based app. My guess is that it will be an option as part of one unified NFL app. Devices that will access the service include computers, tablets and smartphones as well as TV connected devices the Xbox One, Xbox 360, Sony PS3, Sony PS4, Roku and Chromecast (via tablets and smart phones phones).
