Tegna’s Future In Streaming Is Verifiable

One of the most popular axioms of the 1980s stems from the presidency of Ronald Reagan in relation to nuclear arms treaties with The Soviet Union. Trust but verify. Sure you may say something but how can we know for sure? Tegna, which owns TV stations across the country has taken this approach to its own reporting and integrated it into it OTT news apps as a way to provide transparency when reporting on hot button issues both nationally and locally.

Through both the website Verify This seen here, and dedicated sections through their individual station websites and OTT apps viewers can take a close look at the issues that are taking up the most space on the airwaves and social media with stories that address them head on. In the verify section the hot button issues are addressed with primary sources to get to the point of the matter. More so, Tegna makes the full interviews (if applicable) or the relevant source info available for consumption so that users can see what the statements were based on in the first place.

In some cases, Verify will take things a step further by allowing a skeptical consumer to in essence ride along to see the reporting and fact gathering in real time. The program called Verify Road Trip is a new approach to fact finding with a much more personal touch that can provide an answer that covers all the senses.

With verify video segments available across 64 stations users can access lots of information from multiple regions and zoom right in on the buzzy parts of the news day depending on the market. While there is not a Tegna station available in every market Tegna says that it covers 39 percent of all television households. So while you may not find a Tegna station in your city you may well find one in your state which is still helpful as Verify stories can be targeted state wide, for instance mask requirements in state schools, etc.

At the moment Tegna’s OTT news apps are focussed on Roku and Fire TV but its news stations are also available via NewsOn. If you are wondering who owns your local news source or where you can find Tegna based channels check for you closest station here.
