No You Don’t Need Disney+ To Understand Future Marvel Movies

In a recent story from Forbes Kevin Feige said that “If you want to understand everything in future Marvel movies, you’ll probably need a Disney+ subscription, because events from the new shows will factor into forthcoming films such as Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.”

If you follow stories about the growing array of streaming services you could probably guess what the comments about the story were. The I read about 20 just to see if any of them said anything other than some variation on

“Oh so NOW I have to subscribe to another streaming service just to be able to enjoy an expensive movie at a crowded movie theater. Well I guess I won’t ever go see a movie again. No Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!.”

Relax people. I mean really. For you own personal health. The truth is that there in no reason to believe that you have to watch every minute of every offshoots TV show orbiting the Marvel cinematic Universe in order to understand some new movie. Even if the shows themselves are loaded with Easter eggs, important foreshadowing and clues throughout their runs. Why because the modern media landscape has invested in making sure that people know everything that is happening on pop culture relevant TV shows and movies 24-7. I haven’t watched The Walking Dead in years but I knew who got killed by Negan with the big bat. It was like headline news in places like CBR, Screen Rant and such. And all of the events of the Avengers saga have been too. In fact if you do follow these stories closely you have to avoid newsfeeds in order to not get spoilers before you see something. There are also tons of YouTube channels that are dedicated to talking about what happened on any given show last night or two hours ago. Want to know what is happening on Wanda-Vision? Ask YouTube. Want to know what you need to know before you see a new Marvel movie? Google this. “Everything you need to know before seeing (What Ever). I guaranty you will find a page full of responses that will make you feel like you spent the last year of your life in front of the TV even if you don’t even own one.

Hey if you don’t want Disney+ it doesn’t matter. If you want it, enjoy it. But No. You really do not need to watch Disney + shows to understand Marvel Movies. You just need to watch the short free recaps of them on YouTube or read bullet points. For the most part people who are signing up for the service are probably very happy about it and looking forward to seeing more of these characters on screen. And those who are belly aching about it need not apply. There will be millions signed up in months.
