Comcast Fed Up Telling Users To Sideload Peacock

Peacock

Comcast is done pretending that users can not add Peacock to Fire TV devices. The app which launched this summer officially debuted on Roku in September but has yet to grace the Fire TV platform. This is a problem for Comcast/NBCU because amazon’s streaming platform is the second largest in the US, meaning there are a lot of customers left out. But they don’t have to be. The Streaming Advisor and numerous other creators published videos and articles about how to add Peacock to the Fire TV months ago.

Up until now, there has never been a case of a company like Comcast encouraging side loading. But with Wrestlemania on the way to Peacock this year and over a million WWE Network fans about to be switched over to Peacock Premium the company appears to want to get out in front of the story and provide a solution to fans who will likely besiege the company during the leadup to the two-day premier event.

The method pushed in a Twitter post from Peacock’s official feed directed users to add the app via a method published in Tech Hive using the app “Downloader” which is an official app in the Amazon App Store.

While the company recently said it expects to have the app on all major platforms soon the long wait to get Peacock on Fire TV has been frustrating to fans who have had to turn to YouTube and Facebook for help on the situation. Amazon is not alone on the outside with Peacock. Samsung TV’s also do not have access to the app. We will continue to keep an eye on this topic.
