HBO Go is now available to Comcast customers. This should be music to the ears of Roku Customers in the the Philadelphia based cable carriers area. Comcast was one of the few major holdouts on the service preventing Roku owners from being able to enjoy their favorite HBO content on demand. Could this be spurred by the knowledge that HBO will be offering its cable free service in 2015? Cable companies beleive that “Cable Everywhere” offerings are key to holding on to customers. We will see how this all turns out for Comcast. We here at the streaming Advisor wholeheartedly believe that HBO and ESPN have essentially propped up the cable industry for years and view HBO’s new offering as a major threat to the cable TV distribution model despite the fact that Cable companies control a majority of the broadband options in the US.
